Mission
The mission of YALI Ubuntu is to empower displaced youth and adolescent girls by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to integrate into society, gain economic independence, and contribute to sustainable community development.

YALI Sport Africa is a dynamic movement of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) alumni, network members & supporters inspired by the transformative power of sport as a contributor to achieving the African continent’s aspirations. We are dedicated to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth, driven by Africa’s greatest asset—its youth.
We believe that sport is a powerful enabler of sustainable development, contributing to economic growth, health, education, and the empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable communities.
We use sport and physical activity to empower vulnerable children and youth with essential life skills for personal & professional development. Designed to promote life skill education, foster human values, psychological well-being, and academic success for children, youth, and marginalized groups, with sport serving as a tool for empowerment.
Empower young Africans to build sustainable careers in the sports ecosystem, focusing on entrepreneurship, leadership, and business development within the sports sector.
Promote inclusivity in sports by increasing participation among girls, vulnerable groups, and people with disabilities, while using sport to foster gender equality, social cohesion, and peace.
Leverage the power of sport as a platform to promote environmental actions, driving sustainable development and community resilience in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss.
“The Measure of lives is the impact that we have on others”
The YALI Ubuntu Project, as part of the YALISPORT4WORK Program, seeks to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment and social displacement in Cameroon. The project was designed to support internally displaced youth (IDPs) and adolescent girls in two key regions of Cameroon: Bafoussam (2023) and another town in 2024. Rooted in the values of Ubuntu—solidarity, community, and empowerment, the initiative aims to equip vulnerable youth with essential employability, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills through structured training and sports-based interventions.
The mission of YALI Ubuntu is to empower displaced youth and adolescent girls by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to integrate into society, gain economic independence, and contribute to sustainable community development.
Rebuilding mutual respect & trust, re-establishing social networks, and restoring peace in communities affected by violent conflicts.
Sport is not just a game but a platform to raise awareness, re-establish trust, foster positive social connections, and inspire community-led solutions to conflict resolution.
The Nkong Football Tournament for Peace has shown positive outcomes from earlier efforts in 2023 and 2024, reaching 400 youth and 4,000 community members delivering tangible results with increased local commitment to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social cohesion, showing a strong desire for reintegration into the communities
