Empowering Displaced Adolescent Youth Through Skills Development & Sports

Why YALI Ubuntu?
Africa has over 50% of its population under 25 years old, creating a highly competitive job market & limited job opportunities.
1 million+ Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Cameroon, mainly due to conflicts in the Northwest and Southwest regions.
IDP youth face limited economic opportunities, leading to negative coping strategies such as child labor and early marriage.
The sports industry & entrepreneurship offer innovative solutions to enhance employability & social integration.

- Support the legalization and establishment of youth-led businesses and Community-based Organizations.
- Strengthen social cohesion through sports & teamwork activities.

Displaced Youth Trained & Mentored

Key Activities
I. Capacity Building & Strengthening
- Entrepreneurship & Business Training – Helping participants develop business ideas, create business plans, and understand market dynamics.
- Community development & engagement– Educate participants on servant leadership for social impact.
- Financial Education, Banking & Tax Systems – Understanding basic financial terminologies, financial laws and tax systems, market opportunities and business regulations.
- Sports for Employability & Social Cohesion – Using team-building exercises and structured sports activities to enhance unity, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
II. Mentorship & Networking
- Connecting participants with established entrepreneurs, professionals, and potential employers.

Building on the successes of the 2023 and 2024 editions, the project aims to expand to more regions, incorporate digital skills training, and strengthen public-private partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.
